Something Very Fishy is Going On

Yes, something very fishy is going on around my house.  And I’m sharing that odor with the Universe with this posting.  I should actually name this post the tale of the grouper fish.

One of our favorite Asian grocery stores that we frequent in the Philadelphia area is H-Mart.  The other is Chinatown in Philly.  Just last weekend, we were there for dim sum at our favorite place, Dim Sum Garden.  Then we went grocery shopping in nearby shops.

And found a sale on really fresh Grouper fish.  Zen Master is crazy about seafood and the grouper called out to him.

It wasn’t until we got home that I became a fishmonger.

The Grouper Fish and Me

Zen Mum dragged me into the kitchen because they needed me to chop the fresh grouper fish into three pieces.

Me:  Why didn’t you get it chopped at the store?

Zen Master:  Because I didn’t think about it.  I thought I could do it.

Note to self:  Zen Master doesn’t have the physical strength for these things anymore.

Zen Mum:  So you do it.

Because I couldn’t believe what they actually needed me to do, I had to take pictures.

We own a thick chopping cleaver which I’ve never touched, because I never needed to.  After I put on an apron, because I didn’t want fishy fish flying at me, I had to take a selfie because I couldn’t believe that I had to chop a fish.

Boy, that thick chopping cleaver was heavy!  I had to use two hands on it and put my back into each stroke.

But yes, I surely did chop it into three pieces!  Even when Zen Mum was standing in the background, bemoaning that I was chopping her fresh fish into a fishy pulp in some places.  Yeah, not much a cheer leader, that one.
